Tiq-Tiq Khanum
What did tidy Tiq-Tiq Khanum do with the coin she found — and whom did she marry?
Once upon a time there lived a very tidy lady called Tiq-Tiq Khanum. One day, while sweeping her house, she found a coin.
"What shall I buy with this coin?" she wondered. First she wanted to buy sweets, but then she said: "No, they'll be gone too quickly." In the end she bought herself a beautiful red dress and a pair of little shoes.
Dressed up, she sat by the window. Everyone passing by admired her. First a crow came to ask for her hand, but Tiq-Tiq Khanum didn't like its voice. Then a dog came — but it barked far too much.
At last a small, cheerful mouse came. He spoke politely and was very kind. Tiq-Tiq Khanum agreed. They had a big wedding and lived happily ever after.
This tale teaches us that tidiness, politeness and kindness are loved by everyone.
